Believe it or not, some people continue to live with their ex after a divorce. Is this a good idea? Most experts and those who have gone through this process will tell you no. You decided to get a divorce for a reason. Obviously, there is something wrong with the relationship and living together is not going to make things any better. In fact, this may lead to more problems than you were dealing with in the past... Why do some couples still live together after a divorce? There are many reasons for making this mistake. First and foremost, both parties feel that this is the best move from a financial perspective. Would you be able to afford to live on your own? If not, you may turn to your ex no matter how stupid it sounds. Although it may be tempting, you will be much better off finding other living arrangements until you gain financial footing.Others go through a divorce but continue to live together because kids are involved. If you are going to do this, what is the point of a divorce in the first place? A couple that plans on “living together for the kids” after divorce would be much better off sticking it out for the time being. When their kids are old enough to move on, to college for example, the divorce process can then be finalized. If you are going to get a divorce it only makes sense to part ways and live separately. This is the best way to ensure a clean breakup that will not cause any additional issues in the future. *Photo Courtesy of Cosmic Kitty of Flickr
